Cork oak forests are mainly located in Portugal. The cork oak is a majestic and stocky tree that has a great capacity for regeneration.

Its life span varies between 150 and 200 years. Throughout its existence, it is debarked at least 16 times every 9 years, knowing that the first debarking takes place when it reaches the age of 25.

Cork fabric is made from cork oak bark that has been dried for a long time and transformed into very thin sheets a few tenths of a millimetre thick. Sorted, sanded and positioned one by one by hand, the cork leaves are treated to receive a clever blend of natural emollient. The whole will then be heated to a high temperature to bind the leaves together thanks to the suberine (impermeable organic substance impregnating the cellulosic walls of certain plant cells, in particular those of cork.) contained in the cork, without any chemical addition.
